Thailand is famous for its excellent food, its people and their smile, its beaches, its Buddhist temples and its orchids (in no particular order).
The Thai orchids called Gluay Mhai in Thai are exported all over the world (Thailand is the world biggest exporter of cut orchids) . They have more than 1000 species of them. I actually also have a few of them in my garden in Bangkok and posted the pictures before here Flowers in Bangkok

But in order to be the biggest exporter of cut orchids in the world, Thailand needs a lot of orchid farms and they have a lot. And quite a few of them are just to show us the beauty and variety of Thai orchids, especially in Chiang Mai.
The one where we took the pictures shown here is on the way to Mae Rim, located just before the left turn from the main road that will lead you to the Maesa elephant camp. The pictures were taken quite some time ago, with the Canon 450D and the kit lens 18-55mm.
The most expensive, if not the most beautiful, is the white orchid since it can seldom be found in the wild.
And this one with the combination of white petals surrounding some red ones at the center is sure beautiful
But personally I prefer the ones having a bit more colors. Some variations of mauve, pink, violet.

And some yellow and brown orchids.
And there are many, many more, 1000 different species of orchids make for quite a show of colors and shapes. So on your way to Maesa elephant camp in Chiang Mai, it is worth spending some time visiting the orchids farm.
